"Preparing for a successful interview" (page 6/8)

Step 6: Relax, relax, relax!

There is nothing worse for you than feeling so tense during the interview that you have difficulty in showing your best side.

Equally, your interviewer really does not want to see you uncomfortable (however it may seem at the time).

Try to remember that this interview is just as much about you finding out whether this company is the right company for you as it is about the company finding out whether you are the right candidate for them.

Meticulous preparation will help you to relax, as will more and more practice in interview situations. If it has been a while since you’ve last been interviewed, ask some of your friends to simulate the interview for you. And keep doing this until you do feel more comfortable.

Finally, consider applying for jobs which you might not particularly want to give you more interview experience. Then, when the interview for your favourite employer comes around, you will be a seasoned pro and be able to take it in your stride!!
